Restaurant-tip: Barburrito

Barburrito i Skindergade er ubetinget det bedste mexicanske måltid jeg har fået i København. Måske endda nogen steder. Nu har jeg desværre aldrig været i Mexico, eller Sydamerika for den sags skyld, men jeg har ladet mig fortælle, at Barburritos mad er meget lig den mad, man faktisk ville få serveret i Mexico. Jeg har tilgengæld spist utrolig meget mexicansk mad i Australien sammen med hende her , som også var med denne aften. Jeg elsker mexicansk mad. Det er nok noget af min yndlingsmad. Særligt tortillas , som tit er på menuen hjemme hos os. Derfor var Barburrito et åbenlyst valg, da jeg skulle finde ud af, hvor jeg gerne ville spise på min fødselsdag. Det var helt sikkert et godt valg.

Vi startede deres egen lemonade med frisk ingefær, lime og mynte, som var super lækker og frisk og to portioner nachos lavet af madbananer med guacamole, da tjeneren sagde, at skålene var lidt små – og jeg på det tidspunkt var virkelig sulten. Jeg havde aldrig før fået nachos lavet af madbananer før, men jeg kan love for, at det ikke bliver den sidste gang. Som hovedret valgte drengen og jeg at dele nogle forskellige tacos; braiseret kalve med syltede løg, sprødt svin med spicy chorizo, grillet kylling med chipolte og baja løg og sidst med ikke mindst, hvidløg/koriander rejer med guacamole og rå bønnesalsa. Er du vimmer det var lækkert! Min favorit fra den med braiseret kalv, mens drengens bedst kunne lide den med gris og chorizo. Vi delte otto tacos, og jeg kunne egentlig godt have spist én til. Nok mere af lyst end af sult, men alligevel. Amrita fik deres burrito med grilled kylling, som også skulle have været rigtig lækker.

Desværre lød deres eneste dessert med ananas-sala, vanilje, chokolade og tequila ikke så tiltalende, så vi valgte at spise dessert på Scarpetta , som bare altid disker op med lækre desserter. Så fik vi også en gåtur og en lille pause, hvilket passede mig perfekt. På Scarpetta fik jeg naturligvis deres tiramisu, selvom de to andre desserter, som henholdsvis drengen og Amrita fik, også så vildt gode ud. Så er der jo bare endnu en grund til at komme igen snart. Alt i alt en skøn aften med virkelig lækker mad (og dessert). Så hvis nogen af jer leder efter et sted at spise i aften i København, kan jeg kun anbefale Barburrito.

English: Barburrito in Skindergade is without a doubt the best Mexican meal I’ve ever had in Copenhagen. Probably anywhere. Unfortunately, I haven’t been to Mexico, or South America for that sake, but I’ve been told, that Barburrito’s food is very like the food you’d be served in Mexico. I have, though, had a lot of Mexican in Australia together with this girl , who also were with me on this particular night. I love Mexican food. It’s probably some of my favorite food. Especially tortillas , which often is on the menu at my home. Therefore it seem like an obvious choice, when I had to pick where I wanted to have dinner on my birthday. It was definitely a good choice.

We started with their own lemonade made with fresh ginger, lime and mint, which was super delicious and fresh and two portions plantains served with guacamole, because the waiter told us that the bowl are kind of small – and at that point I was already starving. I’d ever had plantains before, but I promise you, it won’t be the last time. As a main the boy and I chose to share some different tacos; braisted veal with pickled onion, crispy pork with spicy chorizo, roasted chicken with chipolte and baja onion and last but not least garlic/coriander shrimp with guacamole and raw bean salsa. It was really good! My favorit was the one with the braisted veal, while the boy liked the one with pork and chorizo the best. We shared eight tacos, and I could have had one more. Probably more because they were so good than from actual hunger. Amrita had their burrito with grilled chicken, which also was suppose to be really good.

Unfortunately their only dessert consisting of pineapple salsa, vanilla, chocolate and tequila didn’t sound too appealing, so we chose to have our dessert at Scarpetta , where they always have amazing desserts. That also provide a walk and a little break, which suited me perfectly. At Scarpetta I of course that the tiramisu, even though the other two dessert, which the boy and Amrita tried also looked really nice. I guess that just another reason to come back again soon. All in all a lovely evening with lots of great food (and dessert). So if any of you are looking for a place to eat out in Copenhagen tonight, I can only recommend Barburrito.

Burger-tip // Dag H

En dejlig solskinsaften i København mødtes jeg med min veninde Panni til en burger og sladder på Dag H. Selvom jeg har besøgt caféen flere gange før, var det min første Dag H burger, men helt sikkert ikke min sidste. Dag H ligger ikke kun utrolig belejligt tæt på min arbejdsplads, men serverer altså også en burger, der hører i kategori med de bedste københanske burgere sammen med steder som Haché og Halifax. Og pomfritterne….uh, de var altså gode!

Selve burgeren var som jeg altid synes er et hit (selvom jeg er svært glad for en god mexikansk burger). Bøffen var perfekt stegt, bollen var tilpas blød og fyldet var helt klassisk med tomat, salat, rødløg og syltede agurker. Deres chilimayo var én af de bedre – en dip, der passer jo perfekt til en burger og fritter. Alt i alt en dejlig burger. Desværre er der noget længerevarende vejarbejde, så den ellers så hyggelige fortorvscafé er altså lidt mindre hyggelig ud til byggerod i de her dage.

English: A lovely summer evening in Copenhagen I met up with my friend Panni for a burger and catching up at Dag H. Even though I’ve visited the café several times before, it was my first Dag H burger. Dag H is not only conveniently close to my workplace, but it also serves a burger that’s in category with some of the best burgers in Copenhagen along with places like Haché and Halifax. And the fries…oh, they were so good!

The burger itself was like I always think is a hit (although I do like a good Mexican burger). The meat was cooked perfectly, the bun had just the right soft consistency and the filling was classic with tomato, lettuce, red onion and pickles. Their chili mayo was one of the better ones – a dip that always works well with a burger and frites. All in all a great burger. Unfortunately, there’s some ongoing construction, so the otherwise cozy sidewalk café is a little less cozy with the construction going on these days.

Take Away tip: Pasta Mania

Jeg er inde i en periode, hvor det at lave mad synes som en helt umulig og næsten fuldstændig uoverkommelig opgave, derfor er det godt at vide, hvor man kan få lækker og nem take away til de dage, hvor der må syndes lidt. Pasta Mania i Elmegade er et rigtig fint bud. Selvom man kan sidde udenfor (og ved enkelte pladser indenfor) og spise sin mad, så virker det mest oplagt at tage sin mad med hjem.

Som navnet indikerer, serverer Pasta Mania pasta i mange former og farver, så hvis man er helt stivelseforskrækket er det nok ikke stedet. Jeg spiser normalt kun fuldkornspasta, men den portion jeg fik var så stor og fyldt med så masser af grønsager og kød, at jeg var stopmæt inden jeg nærmest nået til pastaen. De to drenge, der gjorde mig selskab den aften, spiste hele deres portioner med stort velbehag. Det er helt sikkert et sted for sultne drenge! Men jeg skulle jo også have plads til min tiramisu. Jeg var lidt skeptisk, da jeg så frugtsalaten, men den smagte faktisk skønt og fungerede godt som et friskt modstykke til den lidt tunge tiramisu. Det er selvfølgelig lidt kedeligt at spise ud af sorte plastikbeholdere, men det er en nem opvask og det trækker op i min verden.

English: Lately I’m finding the idea of cooking totally undoable and almost completely impossible, that’s why it’s good to know where you can get delicious and easy take away on those days, where you have to cheat a little. Pasta Mania in Elmegade is a really good option. Even though you can sit outside (and by a few spaces inside) and eat your food, it seems more obvious to bring your food home with you.

As the name indicates, Pasta Mania serves pasta – and in all many shapes and colors, so if you strach-frightened it’s probably not the place. I normally only eat whole grain pasta, but the portion I got was so big and filled with lots of vegetables and meat, that I was so full before I virtually made it to the pasta. The two boys, who accompanied me that night, ate all of their portions with relish. It’s definitely a place for hungry boys! But I needed to leave room for my tiramisu. I was a little skeptical, when I saw the fruit salad, but it actually tasted lovely and worked well as a fresh counterpart to the heavy tiramisu. It’s of course a little boring to eat out of black plastic containers, but it doesn’t leave any dishes to wash up and that’s always a plus in my book.
